What’s involved

The role of Fraud Manager is responsible for protecting THE ICONIC and its customers from customer payment fraud through detection, investigation, data analytics, system optimisation and insights. The role reports to our Financial Controller and will also work closely with key operational departments across our business including, but not limited to, Customer Service, Cyber Security, Delivery Experience, Checkout and the wider Tech team

  • Identify patterns and characteristics within data and logs to fine tune the fraud detection and prevention tool
  • Respond in real-time to emerging fraud attacks against THE ICONIC, working on-call as required
  • Advocate continuous improvement opportunities to help improve the fraud detection algorithms
  • Configure, manage and maintain a complex system of rules and Machine Learning outputs to prevent fraud while maintaining the highest possible order acceptance rates and lowest possible review and decline rates
  • Analyse transaction data and fraud metrics to determine trends and indicators which may assist in detecting and preventing online fraud
  • Deliver concise and detailed reporting to the Executive team about key metrics, trends and emerging risks in the Customer Payment Fraud space
  • Provide guidance, support and training to the Customer Payment Fraud team
  • Manage external supplier relationships, including managing and optimising the new fraud engine solution recently put in place
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all Customer Payment Fraud or policy abuse matters
  • When required, support an escalated payment disputes and chargebacks process
  • When required, assist the Customer Payment Fraud team with the manual review of customer orders
  • Create, monitor and maintain SQL and log based dashboards to effect real-time responses to emerging risks
  • Analyse fraud trends and share intelligence to inform detection strategies
  • Research industry trends, risks and changes to technology to understand impact and relevance to THE ICONIC 
  • Partner with internal stakeholders including Customer Services, Tech Security and Legal teams to support security investigations, as required
  • Partner with external stakeholders as required to ensure THE ICONIC remains at the leading edge of fraud detection practices and processes

About you

  • 5+ years Fraud Management experience 
  • Experience leading a team would be advantageous
  • A customer-centric approach to Fraud risk mitigation
  • Strong Stakeholder management skills
  • Knowledge of fraud detection, investigation and chargeback processes to enable risk minimisation and to minimise the financial impact on THE ICONIC of fraud activity
  • Advanced problem-solving and investigative skills
  • You can operate in and contribute to a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • You bring excellent multi-tasking skills and a focus on delivering outcomes
  • Experience working with and maintaining off the shelf solutions, rules and Machine Learning based Fraud prevention systems
  • Knowledge and experience using data analysis tools and technologies (Excel, SQL, Apache Superset and bigdata) and working with large datasets would be advantageous
  • Highly statistical and analytical with an ability to make data-driven decisions and translate identified opportunities into actionable changes
  • You’re someone who believes in the strength of good relationships
  • Willingness and ability to understand the DNA of the entire organisation - what makes each department tick, what their goals are and how Fraud prevention can be used as an enabler of strategy, rather than a roadblock
  • Experience with managing a Fraud Prevention Tool would be advantageous
