Xero Small Business Insights (XSBI) uses aggregated, anonymised data to generate insights about the small business economy. XSBI enables Xero to champion on behalf of small business by showcasing trends, challenges and opportunities evidenced from our data. This provides a valuable source of timely data for economists, policy makers and governments seeking to better the lives of small businesses globally.

The XSBI team is a small team of data enthusiasts based in Melbourne who are passionate about using insights to drive positive change for small businesses.

The Global XSBI Operations Manager will manage the operations of the team to deliver on it’s key deliverables and help scale the insights practice for future growth. You’ll develop and manage relationships with key partners and support the Global XSBI Program Manager to execute on the global roadmap.  

The ideal candidate must demonstrate a strong performance in delivery, is proactive, can manage multiple deliverables across a global team and can work within an often changing, and fast paced environment.

You will champion operational excellence across the XSBI program, such as identifying opportunities for improvement and collaborating with others to deliver change.

What you’ll do

  • Work across a global cross-functional team (Technology, Comms, Legal, Data) to deliver the small business index each month, and other projects on our global roadmap.
  • Undertake project management activities such as project planning, stakeholder management, risk management and other reporting as required.
  • Help shape the team’s ways of working, including processes and tools in collaboration with others. This includes design, documentation, communication and embedding the processes for all key deliverables.
  • Champion operation excellence across the XSBI program, such as collaborating across multiple teams to understand and apply key learnings to optimise performance and simplify processes.
  • Build relationships, and connect with others from across Xero to stay informed on changes that could impact XSBI.
  • Quality assures the team’s outputs to verify that they are of high quality, and in accordance with internal policies and stakeholder feedback.
  • Other support as required to support the Global Program Manager.

  • Can proactively manage the operations of the team in line with the schedule
  • Problem solving,  risk analysis and management including on-going management of data and operational risks 
  • Can identify and implement process change and simplification
  • Is comfortable working within a new, often changing and fast environment
  • Excellent communicator, able to collaborate with a global cross functional team
  • Has a high degree of rigor and accuracy
  • Is innovative, keen to take on new opportunities to develop and grow
  • Is passionate about improving the lives of small business
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple deliverables across a cross functional team, using tools such as Asana
  • Experienced in process simplification and change
  • Someone with an accounting qualification and/or is familiar with the Xero software is not mandatory, but would be looked on favourably
  • This is a fixed-term maternity leave cover for 14 months.
