We’re looking for an experienced tech leader with a passion for nurturing a high-performing engineering culture to manage an experienced tech team of currently 10 and scale our patented, cloud-based enterprise software from a managed service for 100 clients on 5 continents to a scalable SaaS platform for 1,000+ clients.

We have ambitious growth plans and are looking for an inspiring engineering leader to drive the scaling of our application architecture and tech team. We work with clients around the world, including some of Australia's most forward-thinking brands across retail, peer2peer marketplaces, finance and travel (Kogan, Catch, Dan Murphys, Booktopia, Graysonline, Adore Beauty, Yellow Pages to name-drop a few). Our international business is growing quickly, with established enterprise clients in the US, Europe, Japan and Latin America.

With our patented search marketing automation technology, we help brands deliver a superior customer experience to dramatically improve website traffic, conversions and ROI from the Search channel. Longtail UX technology helps put our clients’ products, services, and content on the first page in organic and paid search – a US$200B market driving US$2Trillion in revenue globally. Along the way we have built a proprietary CDN, proprietary text search algorithms and unique ways to optimise for CJK languages that deliver significantly better outcomes than all prior solutions.

Working closely with our Founders, you will:

  • Lead, mentor and grow an experienced, diverse and highly motivated team of currently 10 across platform development and client implementations
  • Nurture a high-productivity engineering culture with a focus on team Velocity, Quality, Best practice - and applications focused on Scale, Performance, Security, APIs, and User Experience
  • Collaborate closely with the Product team, contribute to our product road map and translate product roadmaps into a technical roadmaps
  • Design and oversee the development of a scalable application architecture for rapid feature output and sustainable growth
  • Oversee the implementation of automated testing frameworks
  • Create and manage a scalable technical pre-sales process with a focus on client onboarding documentation, process optimisation, ecommerce platform app integrations and automation
  • Mentor, train and retain talent as well as attain new talent

You’re perfect for this role if you have:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in Agile development and DevOps in a product organisation
  • At least 3 years’ experience managing 10 to 20 developers, front & backend, across multiple scrum teams; creating technical roadmaps and planning resources; hiring and onboarding
  • Experience scaling a cloud-based enterprise SaaS product to 1,000+ users internationally
  • Experience managing pre-sales and implementation teams and processes
  • Familiarity to translate between technical and commercial aspects and experience with managing tradeoffs in the creation of products from MVP to productionisation
  • Proven expertise with:
  • PHP/ Laravel, Python, Node.js, SQL and NoSQL, frontend JS frameworks, APIs
  • Jira and Scrum
  • Overseeing implementation of testing frameworks
  • Overseeing creation of technical documentation, internal and external
  • Designing and managing a scalable application architecture across multiple applications
  • R&D grant applications
  • A computer science university degree
  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning methods viewed favorably
  • Experience with management of teams across multiple locations and time zones or tech outsourcing a plus
  • Strong leadership and outstanding communication skills
  • Current Aussie working rights
