The primary purpose of the People Team at Tyro is to enable Tyro to be an employer of choice by hiring the best talent, engaging and empowering our people to do their best work, and fostering a happy and healthy workplace environment for all. We are seeking a passionate HR Business Partner to join our broader team of 16 which is comprised of HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition Partners and People Operations.
 
The primary role of the People Engagement Partner is to embed the Tyro people strategy across Tyro and be the trusted advisor to the people and people leaders of their respective functions, to drive high performance and values-driven behaviour in their teams, increase employee engagement and ensure a positive employee experience.  If you love variety and enjoy rolling up your sleeves - this role will provide plenty of opportunities for you to get hands-on with providing both operational and strategic people support to your client groups throughout the employee lifecycle.

What you'll be doing day to day

  • Being the trusted advisor and providing HR business partnering for a range of matters throughout the employee lifecycle including onboarding, engagement and culture, learning & development, policy advice, remuneration and benefits, retention and offboarding, performance management and ER/IR (grievance handling, Awards)
  • Working closely with a mix of emerging and senior people leaders to develop and ensure leadership and coaching culture is cascaded through your functions
  • Providing clear leadership by demonstrating a sound understanding of each of your functions, their strategy, their priorities and their needs and by understanding external business and HR trends and applying what is relevant to your functions and Tyro
  • Retaining a high performing workforce through effective and creative retention strategies
  • Designing and implementing appropriate learning and development programs as needed
  • Driving people processes (performance, development and career) to ensure that employees’ level of performance and capabilities meet current and future standards
  • Managing specific projects as determined in the HR project plan as well as participating in functional and cross-functional initiatives as required
  • Developing and promoting feedback mechanisms for employees to influence continuous improvement
  • Contributing to Tyro’s people strategy by helping to identify, build and embed organisational capabilities, behaviours, structures and processes
  • What you bring to the team

  • 4+ years in an HR Generalist role with a fast-moving organisation
  • Excellent relationship building skills and ability to effectively work with all levels of stakeholders
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills where you are able to articulate your thoughts and advice in a concise and considered manner
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Previous employee relations, or HR experience in a contact centre environment, will be highly desirable
  • High attention to detail
  • Confidence, resilience and a sense of humour
