About the role and team:

Our Communications Team oversees the delivery of strategic, impactful and relevant external and internal communication initiatives that support our entire business. Reporting directly to our Senior PR Manager and working closely with the Head of Communications, you will focus on external communication initiatives that support our entire business.

What’s involved:

  • Demonstrate initiative to identify brand and ‘data-driven’ storytelling opportunities to ideate stories relevant to the news agenda and zeitgeist / cultural moments, as well as extracting storytelling opportunities from within the business 
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to develop PR strategies that amplify key marketing initiatives 
  • Successfully partner with our PR agency to help drive consistent proactive coverage  and  manage inbound media requests
  • Build and manage relationships with key company spokespeople and work closely with our Creative (including Social Media and Influencer) team to develop engaging content 
  • Draft succinct, timely and on-tone briefing documents and materials for spokespeople and press releases to support marketing trade / campaign activity
  • Oversee the management of key Fashion and Beauty campaign moments such as seasonal showings, creative media mailers etc
  • Help build long-term and authentic ICONIC advocates within the media and influencer space and work with our affiliates team to maximise earned opportunities with key commercial media partners 
  • Brainstorm new and creative approaches to help elevate THE ICONIC always-on consumer PR function whether that be our exposure with media, influencers or ICONIC customers

About you:

As a strategic and creative thinker you can drive compelling brand and data-driven storytelling opportunities that capture the attention of media and ICONIC customers alike. You are proactive, take initiative and work well as part of a team, while being able to independently own your daily to-do list. You enjoy working across multiple projects and keep pace in an extremely fast-moving business. 

With at least 4 years’ experience in PR (agency or in-house) working on or for consumer brands within the fashion, beauty, lifestyle, ecommerce or retail space, you will have a strong understanding of consumer PR  and the ability to drive ‘data-driven’ and brand storytelling. You will also have:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to write press releases, briefs and brand commentary with ease
  • A proven track record of delivering socially-led campaigns 
  • Experience working with Australian media with a wide array of reliable relationships, and strong connections in the industry 
  • An insatiable appetite for media, social media and influencer activity, and have your finger constantly on the pulse of trending news, events, personalities and cultural movements 
  • The ability to apply critical thinking, multi-task and problem solve autonomously
  • A bold sense of confidence backed in industry knowledge and an agile mindset that thrives in a fast-pace, constant change and ‘test and learn’ environment 
  • Experience with crisis management and corporate communications 
  • A hit-the-ground running attitude with a natural interest in sustainability, culture and retail!
