The Role

We are looking for a talented and experienced engineering manager to join our Calendar Platform team. This team is critical for the successful delivery of dynamic content into millions of calendar subscribers across the world. We are looking for a highly motivated technical leader who is able to wrap their heads around complex challenges and work with the team to come up with simple solutions that make the Calendar Platform scalable, reliable and extensible.

You will be expected to apply your strong engineering, problem solving and leadership skills to prioritise and execute on new feature development and improvements to the existing platform. This will include working closely with the Product team to help prioritise and translate feature requests into clear engineering requirements, collaborating with your team of engineers.

We have some ambitious goals to capture a new wave of clients and deliver a revolutionary marketing channel via the Calendar. Come and work with customers like ESPN, NHL, NFL, UFC, Nascar and many others and help take the product to the next level!

  • Craft high quality, scalable and resilient systems with a focus on simplicity and maintainability.
  • Act as a custodian of your team’s codebase - shaping, moulding and evolving it towards our ambitious goals.
  • Desire to collaborate, participating in code reviews, providing and receiving thoughtful and constructive feedback.
  • Take responsibility for system health, managing risks and security.
  • Operate with proficiency and autonomy in solving problems

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the sustainability and robustness of the Calendar Platform
  • Identify and propose improvements to the current system architecture that emphasise reliability and scalability
  • Take responsibility for the operational cost of running the platform
  • Manage multiple streams of work
  • Work with tech leads and team members to produce results and deliver project outcomes in a timely manner
  • Grow and mentor the team
  • Ensure continuity and ongoing career development for the team and the members within it
  • Facilitate and be responsible for hiring new engineers
  • Nurture collaboration within the team

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience within Software Engineering
  • 1-3 years experience within an engineering leadership role
  • Strong experience with ASP.NET Core
  • Strong experience with relational databases
  • Experience with distributed systems
  • Experience with public cloud providers, preferably AWS
  • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code
  • A strong desire to learn and keep up to date with the latest technology
