Xero is a beautiful, easy-to-use platform that helps small businesses and their accounting and bookkeeping advisors grow and thrive.

At Xero, our purpose is to make life better for people in small business, their advisors, and communities around the world. This purpose sits at the centre of everything we do. We support our people to do the best work of their lives so that they can help small businesses succeed through better tools, information and connections. Because when they succeed they make a difference, and when millions of small businesses are making a difference, the world is a more beautiful place.

The role…

The US is a key region for Xero and an area that the Product organisation is focused on. This newly created GM role is to ensure we are clear on the holistic product strategy for the US region, advocate for the levels of investment needed to achieve this strategy and to work with senior leaders and their peers to align on overarching outcomes and team priorities in this space.

You will ensure that all teams are clear on the outcomes and overarching OKRs we are trying to achieve, the customer pain points and helping them with their thinking and approach on how they’re addressed. You’ll be across any partnership or M&A conversations and provide key insight on both the product and region perspectives.

The US program of work cuts across various teams and portfolios so you will help ensure that each core customer job to be done that needs to be tackled, is, and that the various teams have the appropriate frame and collaboration approach to solve these problems in a great way for Xero.

This role does not have any dedicated product engineering teams but will have a Program Manager and Analytics support reporting in, along with other supporting roles for the program, reporting into other leaders (Product strategy, design research etc). The role has been deliberately set up this way, so you can be focused on the broad spectrum of scope and teams in this space and optimising how we think about and approach the work to get great customer outcomes.

About you…

You’ll bring extensive experience leading product teams and building products at scale using cloud-based, modern architectures. You’ve ideally led complex programs of work spanning multiple areas of a business, with very strong influencing skills.
You will have experience in developing out product strategies and turning them into tangible customer outcomes, along with proven experience of optimising the way product teams collaborate to get the best results for the business. You will be comfortable to challenge the status quo on how products are discovered and delivered.

You’ll be an excellent communicator and have a long history of successful relationship management to draw upon. You will be comfortable to regularly be in front of Executive teams and Boards.

Nice but not essential would be if you have experience developing software products for the US market!

Our teams take pride in their products and are at the forefront of their craft which sets the standard across the business.
