The PR Insights Analyst will play a key role in the dynamic PR & Communications team. This role is similar to that of a data journalist, combining data analysis with storytelling. The main responsibility of the role is analysing multiple external and internal data-sets with Excel and Tableau to find trends and tell compelling stories.

Who Are You?

Reporting to the Head of PR & Communications, we are looking for a candidate who is self-motivated and passionate storyteller, with 3-5 years of writing, newsroom or research experience under their belt. The ideal candidate will be a solid writer, with some experience writing for public consumption in a professional capacity. Examples of writing may be submitted along with your application. A keen interest in the Australian news cycle is a must.

As well as having a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (journalism/research), the ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and be a Microsoft Excel power-user, comfortable creating innovative analytical formulas, pivot tables and charts. Some experience using Tableau is also a must.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will be experienced using some or all of the following: Qualtrics, Survey Monkey, Google Analytics, Google Polls, VBA for Microsoft Excel, SQL, Photoshop, HTML, Wordpress, Infogram & Piktochart.

As this is a very fast-paced role, we are looking for a candidate who thrives under pressure both independently and as part of a team, but is always approachable and looking for ways to improve and develop further. The candidate must be able to produce error-free analytical work to deadline. Great communication skills are essential and, above all, the candidate should be excited about data and producing high quality news stories to take Finder to the next level. 


PR: The PR Insights Analyst will work with the PR team to produce research, pitches and commentary for the Australian media. This role combines analytical skill, research, writing, unique storytelling and data visualisation to help maintain and build on Finder’s position as the number one Australian comparison site.

The main areas of responsibility for this role will be:

  • Independent research and data analytics of public and internal datasets to identify trends or patterns that can be turned into press stories
  • Conceptualise and write compelling media pitches, as well as SEO-focused site content based on data. 
  • Managing Finder’s regular consumer survey and other surveys. This will consist of running brainstorming meetings, survey programming, liaising with survey providers, highly detailed post-survey analysis, and writing findings up as media pitches.
  • Daily fact checking of Finder research.
  • Dealing with regular short-deadline incoming media enquiries and requests for research
  • Producing regular reports and maintaining reporting docs and analytical spreadsheets.
  • Updating Finder research/statistics onsite. 

Research: The PR Insights Analyst will also work on data visualisation projects that communicate complex information in a digestible way. The key measurement of success here will be the production of attractive/engaging, market-leading data visualisations and infographics that resonate deeply with our audience and effectively inform, educate and empower consumers.

The main areas of responsibility for this role will be:

  • Ability to illustrate data stories effectively and accurately using analytical tools and software.
  • Running regular analytics and reporting based on regularly published internal and external datasets.
