The role you will play:

As we approach a huge year of global growth, we’re looking for a Technical Services Engineer to join our Melbourne-based Engineering team. Reporting into the Director - Engineering (SRE & DevOps), you’ll provide technical and IT helpdesk support to our global team while also supporting our customers with platform and technical queries as we onboard them onto the platform and as they continue to grow their partnership with us. 

With a keen interest in developing your knowledge in web & Python development and technology, your technical expertise will support the engineering team with development support and creating greater efficiencies in the way that we operate.

Our successful candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work independently, have exceptional attention to detail, has passion for SaaS technology and a keen interest in DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide IT Helpdesk support for our global team, supporting with desktop computing on Mac & Windows operating systems
  • Provide technical support to applications running on Web/Python technologies
  • Provide on-call support for productions systems on a rotational basis
  • Drive efficiencies in systems and processes that ensure the site reliability of our platform including configuration management, alerting, monitoring and root cause analysis
  • Resolving customer issues via the telephone, email or remote sessions
  • Reproducing issues in-house and responding back in a timely manner
  • Regular follow-ups with customers with recommendations, updates and action plans
  • Contribute to the creation and enhancement of technical operating procedures
  • Escalate issues in a timely manner according to agreed operating procedures
  • Leverage internal technical expertise, including peers, mentors, knowledge base, community forums and other internal tools, to provide the most effective solutions to customer issues.
  • Create new knowledge base articles to capture new learning’s for distribution throughout the organisation
  • Participate in technical communications within the Technical Support Team to share best practices and learn about new technologies.

Ideal skills and experience:

  • Tertiary study completed in Computer Science or a related technical discipline or experience
  • 4 + years IT or support engineering experience with a passion to develop your knowledge, technical skills and career with a global SaaS scaleup
  • A strong level of ownership with the ability to work independently
  • Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience delivering technical support services on MacOS and Windows environments
  • Experience in working in Linux Environments
  • Ability to script using a variety of common systems scripting tools (eg. bash, powershell)
  • Understanding of Web technologies and Platforms
  • Experience with relational databases such as MySQL, Postgres
  • Knowledge of Cloud Platform’s such as AWS/GCP/Azure
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices (or similar) in the areas of Incident/Problem/Change Management
