About the role
We are looking for an experienced Engineer to help our Portfolio’s Development team upskill and make use of your Operations and related skill sets.
Day to day you will leverage your empathy together with your understanding and experience in design, operations and life-cycling to ensure solutions have considered security, monitoring/alerting/trending, scaling and availability options -in short we’d like to you to share your experience on good operating practices and platform/infrastructure design in a meaningful way with Development teams in order to our best foot forward.
Keywords for this role are Coaching, Design & DevOps.
About the team
Currently a small yet cohesive team of professionals with a myriad of backgrounds that include consultancy, Infrastructure Engineering and software development.
While it’s definitely true that the team is looking to augment it’s already impressive technical skill sets, we’re really looking for someone who can add to our culture by bringing wit, humility and a laugh or two.
Ideally you will be comfortable conversing with people from many backgrounds and opinions; from non-technical stakeholders to Architects and of course on to hands on Developers and Engineers, ably working towards a favorable outcome and using your experience in requirements gathering and design.
Initially the role will have both hands on as well as Design and coaching elements, though the plan is to transition towards more coaching and strategy and less towards hands on roles so this will likely suit someone looking to grow into a more strategic role then hands on.
What you'll bring with you
Ideally you will bring an open mind that’s able to listen to (internal) clients and stakeholders hopes, dreams and problems and leveraging your critical-thinking and problem solving skills to articulate and plan the desired outcome together!
A background in technical troubleshooting, experience with monitoring and operations would be reviewed favorably.
At Xero we support many types of flexible working arrangements that allow you to balance your work, your life and your passions. We offer a great remuneration package including shares plus a range of leave options to suit your well-being. Our work environment encourages continuous improvement and career development and you’ll get to work with the latest technology.
