We’re looking for a passionate Environmental, Sustainability and Governance (ESG) manager to join our growing Social and Environmental Impact (SEI) team. You will be comfortable in an adaptive environment, results driven, a great team player, and a partner to senior leaders across the company to assess and report our ESG progress to key stakeholders. You will bring  operational rigour and a strong commitment to boosting the ESG performance of one of the world’s fastest growing companies.

What you’ll do

  • Develop and present a company-wide ESG strategy and roadmap to our senior leadership team, our Board, and other key stakeholders as needed.
  • Manage the ongoing ESG survey completion process in partnership with all related internal stakeholders and ESG research and rating houses.
  • Identify and track progress against ESG gaps based on feedback from across the business including Xero’s senior leadership team, key functional areas - such as communications, workplace experience, investor relations, finance, risk and legal - and the Board.
  • Educate stakeholders about the humanitarian, environmental and commercial value of boosting our ESG performance.
  • Quantify the business value of various ESG initiatives through in-depth analysis.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to help remove barriers and boost our performance over time.
  • Support regular business processes including annual and mid-year sustainability reporting, managing disclosure of ESG metrics, helping to refresh policies (e.g. Modern Slavery Statement), and reviewing material issues.
  • Support other cross-functional team projects as needed.
  • What you’ll bring with you

  • Understanding of global ESG rating and analysis provided by research firms and rating houses (DJSI CSA, MSCI, Bloomberg, CDP, etc.)
  • Experience building and implementing enterprise global strategies
  • Program management experience for large scale, cross-functional and/or  international deployments
  • Senior stakeholder management and analytical capabilities
  • Experience with Board member engagement
  • 10-15 years work experience
  • Tech or listed company experience
  • 7+ years of ESG, social responsibility or sustainability experience
  • Experience with operational efficiency and process improvement
