The Xero app partner ecosystem and the new App Store are strategically important areas for Xero, loved by customers and advisors, and one of the best growth channels for business apps in the world. Our mission is to connect millions of small businesses and their advisors to business applications that extend the value to our Small Business customers and their advisors, and create go-to-market opportunities  that benefit both our apps and Xero.

As Partnerships Director AUNZ - Ecosystem and App Store, you will lead the development of unique strategies to attain, invest-in and grow relationships with Xero’s diverse community of apps that make up the Xero ecosystem. The role will lead the Regional Partnerships team focused on our ecosystem proposition, pursuing proactive business development opportunities focussing on digitalisation of services for small business with potential partners. A growing number of fintechs in Australia and New Zealand also fall in this portfolio. This role will be a key member of the APAC Partnerships Lead Team and will influence our direction at a global level.

What you’ll do

  • Cultivate a fun, rewarding, innovative and results-driven culture that lives and breathes our Xero values, building empathy for and understanding of our people, customers and partners
  • Responsible for people management and development of the AUNZ Ecosystem Partnerships team 
  • Own Xero’s Ecosystem community development - uphold Xero as the partner of choice including speaking engagements and events as a thought leader
  • Lead the evaluation of opportunities for growth, capability expansion and commercial arrangements by assessing the impact to our customers, our partnerships, and Xero
  • Further develop the Xero App Store including managing the ongoing migration and continued activation of apps
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships throughout Xero
  • Coach the team on pipeline management and delivery of multiple partnerships deals in conjunction with Xero product, customer, commercial and technology areas
  • Support the development of regional strategy focussed on developing new and existing partnerships to support Xero’s broader goals
  • Work with the broader partnerships and operations functions to implement and improve the systems and processes upon which the Partnerships team depends
  • What you’ll bring with you

  • Experience in leading projects and directing high-performing matrixed teams
  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree or higher tertiary qualification
  • At least 10 years business development or related experience in the accounting or business technology fields, with a focus in B2B or B2B2C organizations
  • Understanding of third-party partnership product development and able to translate client needs into a complete solution
  • Strong understanding of mobile-first / cloud-native technologies / web services
  • People leadership and team professional development 
  • Proven negotiation skills, persuasive ability and excellent communication skills. 
  • Negotiates and communicates effectively and directly in high-risk situations to resolve complex issues and build trust and consensus

  • An ability to deliver change in a fast paced dynamic environment experiencing growth and expansion
