Working as part of the Product and Technology Finance leadership team, you will be the key conduit between Finance and the Accounting Product Divisions leadership teams. Working in a true partnership model, you will drive business acumen, critical and commercial thinking into decision making, and manage business case appraisal for all capital allocation decisions related to deployment of resources across the Accounting Product Divisions.

Xero has aligned its structure to Product Divisions. The key focus of the GM Finance - Accounting & SBA is to support the two largest Product Divisions running core Xero product, being Accountants & Bookkeepers and Small Business Accounting. Each Product division is headed by an EGM and leadership team, with this role being the go to person for all finance-related issues.

As GM Finance - Accounting & SBA leadership team, you will ensure a strong linkage between planning roadmaps and long term strategy. This role is crucial to ensure that investment decisions are aligned to Xero’s short, medium and long term strategy delivery. An important aspect of this will include quantifying the levels of investment required to deliver clearly defined financial and operational outcomes.

Reporting into the EGM Finance - Product & Technology, you will be oriented on the big picture for the Accounting Product Divisions, ensuring that value is defined and ultimately unlocked to support Xero’s high growth aspirations. You and your team of two Senior Finance Business Partners and two Analysts will ensure robust forecasting, budgeting and reporting for the Product Divisions you support.

What you'll do...

  • Provide strategic Finance business partnership to the EGM’s that make up the Accounting Product Divisions leadership team.
  • Be the trusted adviser, for all finance related issues, to the Accounting Product Division LT.
  • Drive commercial acumen, problem solving and critical thinking within the Accounting Product Divisions leadership teams to ensure investment requests are directly linked to defined and measurable financial outcomes.
  • Ensure clear accountability is established for deliverables and business case delivery. A key part of this is to ensure that on-going retrospective review of business cases is implemented to learn and develop skills as well as a focus on delivery, across Accounting Product Divisions leadership.
  • Provide insight on how the Accounting Product Divisions teams can effectively request capital for new investments and drive a Return on Investment (ROI) focus.
  • Ensure rigorous tracking against committed business cases to monitor delivery and associated financial milestones.
  • Directly link Accounting Product Divisions Operational Plans to current in-year and long term financial outcomes as well as continuous monitoring of run rates and how these exit into future periods to ensure alignment to long term planning.
  • Actively manage resourcing levels for both in year and longer term time horizons with the support of the Senior Finance Business Partners and Analysts. As part of this, work closely with PX to actively plan and manage remuneration strategies for the Accounting Product Divisions.
  • Ensure the Senior Finance Business Partners are supported on executing current year delivery including budget, periodic reporting, management of the ORP and workforce planning, PO approval, and Adaptive inputs for forecasting / budgeting.
  • Support the shaping and development of Xero's global strategic workforce plan.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider Financial Planning team to ensure alignment between Accounting Product Divisions deliverables (eg Product features) and Go-to-Market strategies / Operating Plans.
  • Ensure budgeting and periodic forecasting inputs are effectively managed and coordinated with wider company objectives.
  • Work with Accounting Product Divisions leadership teams to evaluate and prioritise potential projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Assist the Accounting Product Divisions LT to assess risk associated with delivery of projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure integration of acquired businesses into the overall Accounting Product Divisions as required.
  • Actively participate in the assessment of acquisition targets as required from an Accounting Product Divisions perspective.
  • As a key member of the Financial Planning team be a strong advocate and representative of the overall Finance function in the Accounting Product Divisions LT.
  • What you'll bring with you...

  • Proven experience of 12-15+ years in operating and delivering exceptional business partnering experiences at the executive level, preferably in a Technology or high growth business.
  • Previous experience at an executive or senior GM level within SaaS or software development environment.
  • Experience in setting and executing on a global strategy.
  • Strong skills managing strategy, business delivery, financial planning and building high performing diverse teams.
  • Budget and financial management experience and leadership.
  • Strong influencing, negotiating and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence outside immediate remit.
  • Experience with coaching and managing executive-level leaders across different disciplines.
