About the team & role
The Small Business Experience team is responsible for Xero’s main dashboard and navigation, as well as our Search and Contacts experiences. In this role you will primarily contribute to the discovery, design and delivery of new dashboard experiences whilst also having a hand in other initiatives within the team and across our product and design organisation. The Small Business Experience product team is located across Australia and New Zealand and we ask our product managers, engineers and designers to work together as closely as possible. Your work will help make our core product experience better for every Xero user.
What you'll do:
Design practice and thinking: You'll contribute to the Product Design vision by delivering consistent, high-quality designs. You'll advocate for design value and collaboration, conducting research to understand context and trends. You'll help define problems and create frameworks (wireframes, visual designs) to articulate solutions. Exploring future concepts and developing phased approaches while considering our design system and constraints will be key. You'll prototype ideas, collaborate for feedback, and partner with other designers for cohesive experiences. Designing for accessibility and developing smart interfaces are essential. You'll effectively communicate your work with cross-functional peers across product and engineering..Design research and testing: You'll contribute to identifying opportunities for research and play a part in planning and conducting studies relevant to your product area. This includes participating in user research to truly understand our customers' goals and challenges, helping to analyze the findings, and joining in on user testing with our research teams.Build strong cross-functional relationships: Developing strong relationships and influence across teams will be vital. You'll actively participate in cross-functional conversations and collaborate closely with product managers and engineers to ensure our solutions hit the sweet spot between user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility. You'll also work alongside development teams during sprints to ensure the design vision is brought to life effectively and to troubleshoot any issues along the way.
What you'll bring with you:
Experience working in a product-led environment will be favourable for this position. Understanding of building and iterating products or experiences based on usage patterns & user feedback.A portfolio that demonstrates high-quality design work, improving the user experience and contributing to business outcomes.Skill and experience across the design process from uncovering customer needs and pain points, to executing elegant interfaces.
