Why join us?
We’re a global tech company,  just not the kind you’re picturing.
Sure, we’ve got catered lunches, team events, cool merch, and yes... dogs in the office. But that’s not why people join.

Our team of nearly a thousand people wakes up every day to make our product and our customers’ lives better. At SafetyCulture, you’ll hear “yes, let’s give it a shot” more often than “that’s not how we do things here.”

People join because we’re building tools that make work better for the 3 billion people who keep the world moving - factory floor operators, baggage handlers, truck drivers, servers, store assistants. The ones who make things happen. We’ve got the scale and innovation you’d expect from big tech. The difference? No endless layers of sign-off. No corporate theatre. Just smart, experienced people solving real problems fast .

The scale is big. But the ownership’s personal. Every full-time team member gets equity - real skin in the game. When we grow, you do too. We’re not perfect, no company is. But this next chapter of our growth is about scaling with intelligence, not just size - fueled by operational maturity, a clear vision, and a strong focus on AI.

This is big tech impact, without the big tech ick. If that excites you more than it scares you, you’ll fit right in.

We’re looking for a P&C Engineer to build and own the technical systems that power modern HR functions. This role sits at the intersection of HR, data, automation and AI. You’ll write code, design workflows, create internal tools and develop AI agents that help P&C at SafetyCulture scale and evolve with confidence.

This is not a traditional HR systems or people analytics role (we have a dedicated role for this!). You’ll spend most of your time building systems, eliminating manual work, and designing workflows that reduce friction for the P&C team and the broader business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute SafetyCulture’s People AI & automation roadmap, identifying the highest-impact opportunity areas across the P&C function
  • Partner with stakeholders (within P&C and beyond) to assess AI opportunity areas, define solution architecture, and deliver internal AI capabilities that scale the People team’s impact
  • Develop end-to-end AI systems, including tooling/integration layers, skills management, prompt management, and workflow orchestration.
  • Engineer and maintain production of AI solutions, owning delivery from prototype through to production operation
  • Design, deploy and maintain AI agents and agentic workflows to support operations and decision-making
  • Ensure AI systems are powered by clean, well-modelled and trustworthy people data, with strong intuition for AI failure modes and how to constrain systems for reliability.
  • Collaborate with the People Systems Analyst to define and maintain a People systems roadmap aligned to SafetyCulture’s growth plans, including build vs buy vs integrate decisions as part of broader system architecture.
  • Debug issues across data pipelines, integrations, automations and AI workflows, continuously improving reliability, scalability and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Security and Legal stakeholders to assess and manage risk associated with AI solutions, including data access, vendor assessment, and compliance requirements
  • Apply working knowledge of privacy principles as they apply to People data and AI systems.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g. IT, Security, Finance, Commercial Operations, Engineering) to validate solution fit and deliver initiatives that span team boundaries.
  • Develop enablement materials and support adoption of new tools and systems across P&C and the broader business.
  • Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience & technical skills:
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing end-to-end AI-enabled solutions, including practical experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG architectures, or AI orchestration/agent frameworks in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated experience building and deploying AI agents and multi-step agentic workflows in production environments.
  • Comfort with engineering fundamentals such as version control, testing and deployment practices
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing workflow automations across systems, including use of low-code/no-code automation tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of systems architecture, integrations and scalable system design. Familiarity with HRIS platforms (e.g. HiBob) is considered a plus.
  • Track record of identifying process inefficiencies and implementing improvements that increase efficiency and scalability.
  • Proven experience building dashboards and data products to generate clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Understanding of how data flows across interconnected systems, thinking in end-to-end workflows rather than isolated tools.
  • Working knowledge of privacy principles as they apply to People data and AI systems.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g. IT, Security, Finance, Engineering) to deliver technical initiatives.
  • Experience in a P&C/HR context is preferred but not required.
  • Mindsets and behaviours:
  • Automation-first: You treat manual work as a temporary state and default to building systems that eliminate it.
  • Ownership-oriented: You default to action and take end-to-end responsibility for delivery, from prototype to production operation.
  • Systems thinker: You optimise the whole, not the parts — considering downstream impacts of schema, logic or automation changes.
  • Pragmatic: You balance speed with long-term reliability, focused on outcomes over demos.
  • Strong communicator: Able to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences and develop adoption-focused enablement materials.
  • High ambiguity tolerance: Comfortable working with messy inputs and translating unclear business questions into well-structured technical solutions.
  • Collaborative: Strong stakeholder influence and management skills, with a track record of delivering across team boundaries.
  • More than a job:

  • Equity with high growth potential, and a competitive salary
  • Flexible working arrangements, we encourage you to create the best work blend while working from your home and the local SafetyCulture office
  • Access to professional and personal training and development opportunities
  • Hackathons, Workshops, Lunch & Learns
  • We encourage involvement in the community, open source work, attending talks and events, and experimenting with new technologies
  • Office Benefits:

  • In-house Culinary Crew serving up daily breakfast, lunch and snacks
  • Barista coffee machine, craft beer on tap, boutique wines and a range of non-alcoholic beverages
  • Wellbeing initiatives such as subsidised fitness programs, EAP services and generous parental leave policy
  • Quarterly celebrations and team events, including the annual Shiplt global offsite
  • On-site gym, table tennis, board games, books library, and pet-friendly offices
  • We’re committed to building inclusive teams and cultivating a sense of belonging so our people can bring their whole authentic selves to work each day. We seek to make reasonable adjustments throughout our recruitment process to create an even playing field for all candidates. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the entire SafetyCulture team we’ve built an incredible culture which has seen us recognised as a Best Place to Work in Australia, the US and the UK .
