About Us
We’re an Australian tech scale-up pioneering high-accuracy navigation solutions. Our Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) empower vehicles to navigate where satellites can’t reach—underground, underwater, or even in conflict zones. We combine advanced hardware (including ultra-sensitive Fibre Optic Gyroscopes) with sophisticated software to create devices used in both commercial and defence sectors. Plus, we’re partnering with the Australian Space Agency on projects like guiding rockets and autonomous landings!
Overview of Position
The Algorithms Engineer plays an integral role in developing novel products and substantially improving existing product families. The Algorithms Engineer focuses on research activities that invent and develop unproven ideas into commercially viable innovations.
What You’ll Do
Find novel solutions to important business-relevant technical challengesDefine, plan, execute, monitor and report on research activities, ensuring they are aligned with the needs of Advanced Navigation and key external stakeholdersImplement, test and evaluate new technology, either in a real-time solution or in post-processing or simulated context (for example in Matlab) depending on the needs of the business and project priorities.
What We’re Looking For
Ideally an undergraduate degree achieved at the level of first-class honours (or equivalent) in science or engineering, with a focus on computer systems, mechatronics, physics, mathematics, software or a comparable field. Master or PhD in mechatronics/robotics/state estimation is an advantage Experience in professional R&D roles with a strong technical focus, with the expectation that the candidate will have been centrally involved in developing and testing novel algorithms to solve real-world problems.Application of signal processing and state estimation techniquesWriting algorithms for resource-constrained devicesHave successfully introduced novel algorithms into commercial productsHigh-level proficiency with MatlabHigh proficiency with state estimation techniques (e.g. Kalman filtering)Competence with C/C++ for embedded systemsAbility to write in-depth technical reports and to perform a literature review.
