Working closely with the Senior Payments Counsel, you will support the Payments business at Xero execute their strategy while ensuring that our Payments products comply with the relevant laws and regulations.
The focus of this role is to ensure that Product, Tech, Marketing and the other cross-functional teams supporting our AU Payments growth, have an appropriate level of understanding of AFSL obligations, compliance, AML and risk management processes.
The Senior Manager Payments Risk & Compliance plays an important role, contributing to the Xero Vision to be the most insightful and trusted small business platform.
What you'll do
Shape the future of payments: Play a pivotal role in executing Xero's cutting-edge Payment Strategy, embedding robust fraud prevention and compliance controls to protect millions of users.Be the strategic expert: Act as the go-to compliance advisor for our Product, Tech, and Marketing teams, empowering them with the knowledge (including AFSL and AML) to drive sustainable payments growth in the Australian market.Build for scale: Collaborate with senior leadership to design, build, and launch scalable, best-in-class payment operations workflows that set the standard for AFSL compliance.Connect across Xero: Work as a central connector, collaborating daily with diverse teams from Product and Engineering to Enterprise Risk, Security, and Privacy to weave safety and compliance into the fabric of everything we build.Guide product innovation: Act as a key partner to Product teams, reviewing new designs and providing expert advice on regulatory compliance and smart risk mitigation from the very first sketch.Be our risk radar: Proactively identify, assess, and report on key operational, compliance, and emerging risks, protecting the business and our customers by always staying one step ahead.Be a critical problem-solver: Make a direct impact by providing practical, hands-on support during incidents and lending your risk expertise to high-priority strategic projects.
What you'll bring with you
7+ years of payments industry and/or risk and compliance experience within the Financial Services industry in Australia (Experience in other regions is a benefit) Strong understanding of AFSL obligations, compliance, AML, and risk management Familiar with working in a product technology environment Experience with product risk, project management, delivery and reporting Experience communicating with a wide variety of stakeholders, including senior leadership Experience with driving ownership, action and change management Proven stakeholder influencing and management capabilitiesA hands-on, problem-solving approach with a growth mindset Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Excellent organisational skills Flexible and curious Thrive on managing your own time and approach to work, with prioritisation of time and projects
