As the Senior Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for managing accurate and timely payroll processes for approximately 700 employees across multiple markets. This includes overseeing monthly and semi-monthly payroll cycles, coordinating with third-party providers, and ensuring compliance with employment contracts and industry standards.

You will collaborate with internal teams on employee onboarding and payroll communications, administer leave entitlements, and manage superannuation and salary-sacrifice arrangements. Additionally, you'll address payroll inquiries and drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in payroll operations.

How you will spend your time:

  • Processing end to end monthly and semi-monthly payroll cycles in a number of different markets on time and in an accurate manner (~700 staff).
  • Liaising with third-party providers used for payroll processing in other markets.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders (particularly the People & Culture team) in onboarding new employees, communicating relevant information internally
  • Calculation and administration of leave entitlements (including paid parental leave) within the Payroll system across a number of different markets.
  • Update and maintain employee records including address, bank details and superannuation changes in relevant systems
  • Oversee the administration of superannuation and salary sacrificing arrangements.
  • Address and resolve inquiries from employees, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Continually review and recommend improved processes to increase efficiencies.
  • About you:

  • You will be an experienced Payroll Officer with knowledge of statutory payroll requirements, understanding of legislation requirements and salary packaging
  • 3+ years of experience in standalone payroll officer role
  • Experience processing larger pay runs (200+ staff or higher)
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders within the organisation
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel knowledge
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Understanding of National Employment Standards, superannuation, and other employee benefits legislation in the Australian context
  • Ensure confidentiality of payroll and employee related personal information
  • Customer centric focused
  • Proactive and enthusiastic attitude with a focus on process enhancement
  • Desirable:

  • Experienced in LSL legislation and calculations
  • Experience working with, or within, an outsourced payroll provider
  • Experience with KeyPay (Employment Hero Payroll)
  • Experience working with Oracle NetSuite or other ERP
