SafetyCulture is searching for a Senior Data Analyst to join the Data Analytics team. In this key role, you will be instrumental in leveraging data to empower product and commercial decision-making. As part of the Data Analytics team, you’ll use your skills to help us understand what’s working for our customers, what’s not, and what we need to do next to improve our products and grow our business. Working as a Senior Data Analyst you will provide reliable and accurate data-based insights to understand business performance and drive improvements. 

What are the key accountabilities/responsibilities of the role?

  • Analysing user behaviour data to identify patterns and opportunities for improving user acquisition, activation, retention, and monetisation.
  • Mapping out key product funnels, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement, and championing the effective use of data to support making smart and impactful prioritisation decisions.
  • Building and maintaining robust data models to support analysis and reporting, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Collaborating with data engineers to source, clean, and transform financial and business data for analysis.
  • Develop predictive models that can be used to improve business outcomes and generate real commercial outcomes. Eg. likelihood to churn, cross sell propensity models.
  • Supporting the creation and tracking of company goals by developing and maintaining KPI dashboards and reports that monitor progress.
  • Staying abreast of emerging data analysis tools and techniques and contributing to the development of the data analysis function within SafetyCulture.
  • Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial data used for analysis and reporting.
  • Designing and conducting A/B testing to inform product decisions
  • Promoting a data-driven culture across the business.
  • What are the key relationships that are relevant to the role?

  • Business Stakeholders: This is a core collaboration. You'll partner with them to understand their data needs, translate those needs into actionable insights, and ultimately support their decision-making processes.
  • Product Teams: Where you will collaborate to ensure product strategy and priorities are backed by data & insights, and features and experiments are adequately designed & instrumented to maximise learnings.
  • Data Engineering Team: Working closely with data engineers is crucial. They'll provide access to clean and transformed data, and you'll collaborate to ensure data pipelines are efficient and support your analysis.
  • Senior Management and Board: Your data-driven reports and insights will directly inform senior leadership and the board. Cultivating clear and concise communication will ensure they understand the financial story you're telling with the data.
  • Potential External Partners: Depending on SafetyCulture's data strategy, you may interact with external data providers or analysts. Building strong relationships can ensure you're getting the most out of these collaborations.
  • What experience will you bring?

  • Commercial acumen: You need to be able to demonstrate an understanding of how the data relates to the desired commercial outcomes and strategy of the business. 
  • Data Modelling: Expertise in relational database design, data warehousing concepts, and dimensional modelling.
  • SQL: Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries to extract and transform data for analysis.
  • Data Visualisation: Working knowledge of data visualisation principles and best practices to create clear and compelling dashboards and reports.
  • Business Acumen: Understanding of SafetyCulture's business model, financial operations, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Data Analysis: Ability to analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Data Manipulation: Skill in cleaning, transforming, and preparing data for analysis using tools like SQL and Python.
  • Experience in experiment design and A/B testing, correlation and causal inference,
  • Experience with advanced statistics & predictive models eg. linear & logistic regression, decision trees, random forests, clustering algorithms.
