THE ICONIC Commercial team is data, product and trend orientated. Our Commercial team is customer obsessed and delivers the future of fashion through curating a customer centric platform of choice. The Category Buying team work together with the Planning team to drive sales, maximise profit, manage intake and ensure that of the moment and forward-thinking ranges engage THE ICONIC customer. Working closely with the Finance team to deliver THE ICONIC and GFG objectives and Operations teams to ensure inventory forecasts are accurate.

We are currently looking for a Junior Buyer/ Entry Category Buyer for our Own Brand team.

We're seeking a dynamic and experienced Entry Category Buyer - womenswear to elevate our women's categories. This role is perfect for an experienced Assistant Buyer or Junior buyer ready to advance their career. 

About the Role:

Trade Analysis and Strategy Development:

  • Conduct comprehensive weekly trade analysis with a focus on actions encompassing sales performance, market trends, and competitor activities.
  • Develop strategic insights and actionable plans to optimise departmental performance, including NMV, profitability, and stock cover.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align trade strategies with seasonal and long-term objectives, ensuring agile responses to market dynamics whilst achieving budgeted sales plans
  • Provides quarterly SWOT analysis with actions and recommendations 

Range Planning and Product Development:

  • Plans a balanced range including assortment selection and option planning across Core & Newness
  • Works closely with design team to align on market trends and customer preferences.
  • Forecast demand accurately working alongside planning to develop replenishment strategies that optimise inventory levels and meet sales targets.

Supplier Management and Negotiation:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, fostering collaboration and driving mutual success.
  • Negotiate terms and costs with vendors to ensure competitive pricing, product quality, and adherence to sustainability goals.
  • Monitor supplier performance and identify opportunities for improvement or optimisation across the supply chain.

Marketing and Creative Alignment:

  • Work closely with marketing and creative teams to align brand and product assortment with brand messaging and promotional strategies.
  • Provide input on marketing campaigns and creative executions to maximise product visibility and sales impact.
  • Maintain brand and customer persona information 

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Provide effective leadership to direct reports, setting clear expectations, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. 
  • Support the professional development of team members through coaching, training, and performance feedback.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration and communication to ensure alignment with organisational goals and objectives.

What it takes:

  • Minimum 2 years + experience at Assistant Buyer/Junior Buyer level
  • Proven track record of exceeding expectations and ability to understand and drive process improvements that benefit wider team
  • Creative mindset, a passion for fashion and market trends paired with excellent analytical skills and a strong business acumen.
  • Proactive, autonomous problem solver, with an entrepreneurial spirit and an ability to multitask .
  • Ability to influence, strong negotiator and communicator in both verbal and written communication - can get the best out of people and suppliers
  • Proficient in Excel
