We are seeking an experienced Security Manager to be a trusted partner in ensuring our technology platforms maintain the highest standards of security, compliance, and data protection as we scale globally.  

Why this role matters  

As Security Operations Manager, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining world-class security practices across our technology stack and global operations. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will balance technical security implementation with governance and compliance activities to protect our users' sensitive health, location, and safety data.

Key responsibilities 

Technical Security & Infrastructure 

• Design and implement security controls across our AWS serverless architecture (Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, OpenSearch)  

• Manage security aspects of our Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and ensure security best practices in CI/CD pipelines  

• Conduct security assessments, vulnerability management, and threat modelling for our mobile apps, APIs, and wearable integrations  

• Lead incident response and security monitoring initiatives using AWS security services and third-party tools  

• Collaborate with engineering teams to embed security by design principles in our TypeScript, Node.js, React, and React Native applications  

Governance & Compliance Leadership 

• Manage day-to-day requirements of our SOC2 compliance program, including evidence collection, control testing, and remediation activities  

• Assess and implement security and data protection requirements across global regions (Australia, US, Europe) including GDPR, HIPAA, and local privacy laws  

• Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and risk management frameworks  

• Partner with Regulatory and Legal teams to ensure compliance with healthcare and safety industry standards  

• Conduct vendor security assessments and manage third-party risk 

Strategic Security Leadership 

• Serve as the security thought leader within the organisation, providing strategic guidance on emerging threats and security trends  

• Build security awareness and training programs for engineering and product teams  

• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams to balance security requirements with innovation speed  

• Establish metrics and reporting for security posture and compliance status to leadership

Requirements

You are a hands-on security leader with a passion for protecting sensitive health and safety data while enabling rapid product innovation. You thrive in fast-paced, scale-up environments and are comfortable with both technical implementation and strategic governance. 

Key skills & Experience 

Essential 

• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity roles with a focus on cloud security and compliance programs 
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS security services and Terraform for infrastructure security management 
• Proven experience managing SOC2 compliance programs and working with external auditors 
• Experience with data protection regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA) and multi-region compliance requirements 
• Strong technical background in application security, API security, and mobile security best practices 
• Experience working in regulated industries (healthcare, safety, finance) or with sensitive personal data 

Highly Desirable 

• Experience with AI/ML security and protecting machine learning models and datasets 
• Knowledge of IoT and wearable device security considerations 
• Experience with DevSecOps practices and integrating security into CI/CD pipelines (GitLab preferred) 
• Professional security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, AWS Security Specialty, or similar 
• Experience in scale-up or fast-growth technology companies 
• Background in health technology or safety-critical systems
