We’re hiring a Senior Financial Business Partner to join our growing finance team at our headquarters here in Sydney. This is a high-impact role in a fast-paced, high-growth tech company where you’ll have exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to shape financial decisions that drive business growth.
You’ll work across both the technical accounting and commercial sides of finance - owning month-end processes while also partnering closely with the business on budgeting, forecasting, and process transformation initiatives.
You will be responsible for:
End-to-End Financial Accounting: Taking ownership of all financial accounting aspects, including income statement and balance sheet accounts. This encompasses managing processes related to revenue, operating expenses (OPEX), fixed assets, prepayments, and inter-company transfers. Claims Payment Processing: Owning the finance-related aspects of claims payment processing, ensuring accurate and timely financial recording and reconciliation of all claims. Month-End Close Management: Efficiently processing month-end journals and actively assisting with the timely and accurate month-end close procedures. Comprehensive Financial Reporting: Preparing robust and insightful financial reports for month-end reconciliation, including producing monthly cash flow statements, and for various internal stakeholders, including our GM of insurance, to support strategic decision-making. Underwriter Reporting: Preparing and submitting bordereau reports and other necessary financial reporting to our underwriters, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements. AFSL Compliance Monitoring: Monitoring key financial metrics and ensuring compliance with Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) requirements. Audit and Tax Liaison: Collaborating effectively with external auditors and tax advisors, providing necessary documentation and support to ensure compliance. Team Leadership & Mentoring: Providing guidance and oversight to a direct report located in the Philippines, fostering their development and ensuring the quality of their work. Process Optimisation: Proactively identifying and implementing opportunities for process improvement, standardization, and automation within the finance function to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Strategic Business Partnering: Building strong relationships and partnering with various teams across the Group, providing financial insights and support to achieve business objectives. Project Contribution: Ad-hoc involvement and contribution to wider finance team projects contributing to the continuous evolution of our financial operations
Essential skills:
CA qualified accountant with 3 years post qualification Experience with AASB / IFRS accounting and reporting Experience in the Australian Insurance industry (exposure to external markets is also desirable) Forensic attention to detail Effective communication skills Highly organised and self-motivated Proactive attitude - ability to take ownership of responsibilities and the initiative to get things done Strong Excel and IT skills
Desirable skils:
Building and tracking performance (budget/forecast) against monthly / quarterly / yearly targets (exposure to modelling would also be desirable) Previous exposure to broker networks within the Insurance Sector or similar agency commission arrangements
