Moodle with us!

At Moodle, we’re on a mission to empower educators and learners worldwide with open, flexible, and innovative digital learning solutions. As the world’s most customisable and trusted open-source LMS, we partner with schools, universities, and organisations to create better learning experiences for millions. If you’re ready to make a real impact, and be part of a global movement shaping the future of learning, join us let’s transform education together!

This is a fully flexible role based in Perth (Australia).

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate User Researcher to join our growing team! Involved in exploratory, generative and evaluative research, you will be fundamental to the development and maintenance of Moodle products, ensuring they meet the needs of educators, learners, and contributors.

As a User Researcher at Moodle, you’ll have the opportunity to work independently while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.  You'll design and conduct a variety of qualitative and quantitative research activities from usability studies and interviews to workshops and diary studies all with the goal of improving the usability and impact of our products. You'll turn research into clear, actionable insights and ensure those insights reach the right people at the right time. You'll also contribute to the evolution of our research practice by working with the Lead User Researcher to strengthen our operations and provide guidance on tools and methodologies.  The role offers plenty of variety and the chance to make a real impact across multiple products and initiatives.

Requirements

We’d love to meet you

Especially if you can talk to us about your:

  • Proven experience owning and running user research within product organisations.
  • Background in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, or a related field such as Cognitive Science, Behavioural Economics, Anthropology, or Sociology — or equivalent practical experience and skills in these areas.
  • Experience working in a technical environment with cross-functional teams, including designers, developers and product managers.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to quickly and effectively build strong relationships, trust and credibility with stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a remote setting across multiple timezones in a distributed team environment.
  • Familiar with working on existing, mature digital products.
  • A passion for open-source, education and community-driven projects.
  • Experience contributing to commercial product development.
  • Knowledge of languages other than English is a plus.
