We are looking for a talented and inquisitive Senior Financial Accountant whose drive for learning and determination for continuous improvement aligns with our ambitious, fast-growing and transforming company.The Senior Financial Accountant plays a critical role in our global finance function, with responsibility spanning all regions and subsidiaries of the company. This is a hands-on position that requires deep knowledge of international accounting standards and financial operations in a complex, multi-entity environment.

Reporting to the Director, Global Finance and based in our Melbourne office, this role calls for a strong attention to detail, a disciplined and structured approach, and a continuous improvement mindset. 

You’ll be a key contributor in a collaborative global team, helping to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting. WHAT YOU’LL DO  

  • Key contributor in the preparation of the consolidated financial statements, including supporting external audits, tax and ensuring compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards    
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, preparing accurate balance sheet reconciliations, analysing financial performance and assisting with management reporting
  • Manage month-end share-based payment accounting, including journal preparation, reconciliations, query resolution and analytical reviews.
  • Manage monthly lease accounting processes, including posting lease entries, processing lease modifications, and establishing new leases in line with AASB/IFRS 16.
  • Identify opportunities and implement ways to improve financial processes, controls and reporting efficiencies
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to provide financial insights and support decision-making
  • Assist with the implementation and development of systems, controls, policies and procedures to support growth and expansion
  • Partner with various business units to ensure financial accountability and provide insights to drive business performance
  • Collaborate with counterparts in the US and the UK which would include evening availability for calls when necessary.
  • Assisting with global transfer pricing activities, including managing intercompany loan balances, overseeing intercompany recharges, and ensuring compliance with all related regulatory obligations
  • Assist the Director, Global Finance with any ad hoc tasks and projects, where required

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • CA/CPA (or equivalent) qualification
  • Over 4 years post qualification experience
  • Experience in a similar role with an ASX listed company
  • Experience with intercompany, foreign currency transactions, share based payments, cashflow reporting/forecasting, payroll processing and impairment experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards    
  • Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Knowledge of NetSuite and Workday Adaptive Planning desirable but not essential
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Teamwork and ability to interface with employees at all levels of management
  • Strong initiative and ability to work with very little supervision

WHAT YOUR SUCCESS WILL LOOK LIKE

  • In 6 months, success in this role will look like:
    • Consistently accurate and timely month-end close processes across all assigned areas.
    • Fully up to speed with all assigned processes and accounting areas, demonstrating a strong understanding of the business and the ability to independently manage responsibilities.
  • In 12 months time, success in this role will look like:
    • Implementing improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and control.
    • Providing clear insights and recommendations to management, helping drive informed business decisions.
    • Strong stakeholder relationships and a reputation as a trusted, proactive finance partner.
