How you’ll make an impact:

As a Product Marketing Manager for SB Direct, you will play a pivotal role in the way that Xero communicates with small businesses across channels - to support consideration, acquisition and cross-sell.

This is an exciting opportunity to own Xero’s single source of truth when it comes to aligning Xero’s small business customer messaging globally in an aligned and intentional way to address customer needs for each country and key industries. By gaining a deep understanding of customer needs and their use of Xero to benefit their business, you will refine our ideal customer profiles, refine our customer value propositions, and refine our detailed feature messaging with associated proof points and validation. This will influence how we merchandise our offering for different customer types, to make sure that the customer picks the package that’s best for them.

The ideal candidate is customer-focused, experienced with research, committed to understanding how customers use Xero, experienced with crafting differentiated customer value propositions and feature messaging, holds an understanding of the marketing channel mix, and able to align stakeholders to achieve meaningful results.

What you'll do:

  • Drive quantitative and qualitative research into small business’ accounting/business management needs to inform an understanding of Ideal Customer Profiles across geographies.
  • Develop and maintain customer-centric value propositions and ready to use messaging for target customers. Bring CVPs to life by creating internal messaging frameworks.
  • Work with subject matter experts to continually refine value propositions and messaging, based on software releases, acquisitions and environmental conditions. 
  • Work with the competitor analysis team to identify opportunities to refine feature messaging and customer value propositions.
  • Identify and work cross-functionally to implement new merchandising opportunities with the goal of improving customer acquisition, retention, and revenue metrics. 
  • Provide input into the Xero onboarding experience globally and collaborate with regional and channel partners to ensure suitability for target customers.
  • Influence complex GTM work streams, building rapport with stakeholders across functions to gain buy-in and prioritise objectives. 
  • Proactively identify opportunities to grow adoption by actively staying across research, performance analytics, and feedback from market-facing teams. 
  • Act as a small business messaging specialist globally, enabling internal teams to leverage this for optimised customer engagement and revenue growth. 
  • Identify and drive the development of ready-to-use marketing assets for use across marketing channels.
  • Drive the accumulation and development of claims to validate customer value propositions, for use across marketing channels.
  • What you'll bring with you:

  • 3+ years in product marketing or related roles 
  • Experience working across timezones
  • Experience working with stakeholders of all levels and functions
  • Experience with customer engagement
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative research, development of customer value propositions and copywriting
  • Experience in applying product marketing best practices and frameworks
  • Ability to craft compelling messaging that connects and converts target customers 
  • Ability to work independently,  thrive in fast-paced environments and manage ambiguity
  • Business acumen and a data-driven approach to decision-making
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Proactive mindset with a “roll-up-your-sleeves” attitude
