Reporting to the Head of Information Technology, this position is located in Sydney, Australia and is available immediately. This role offers unique opportunities such as working with AWS High Performance Cloud Computing, supporting a deep tech lab infrastructure with hundreds of Raspberry Pi platforms running Embedded Linux, and the occasional “printer doesn’t work” support request.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provisioning, maintaining & supporting end-user devices, Windows / Mac / Linux
  • General IT network infrastructure support (Palo Alto / Aruba / Unifi equipment)
  • Monitoring Linux systems and troubleshooting performance and availability  issues
  • Basic network t/shooting and maintenance
  • Respond to client problems (tickets) and proactively monitor client’s installations
  • Triaging tickets, updating users, escalating issues
  • Maintaining zoom and other audio & visual / conferencing equipment
  • Monitoring and reporting on backups and other logs
  • Network printer installation and maintenance

Essential skills & requirements:
(you must have these skills to be considered):

  • 3+ years of experience in IT support / service desk or related role
  • 1-2 years experience Linux Desktop experience 
  • Basic IP Networking experience (Including WiFi)
  • Knowledge of working with Audio visual systems
  • Experience working in a ticketed help desk system 
  • A “Can-do” attitude and problem solving
  • Proven ability to schedule work load
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Scripting experience
  • Ability to converse with a highly technical user base

Bonus skills

  • Working knowledge of advanced networking concepts 
  • Experience with AWS
  • Experience with some of our day-to-day tools including:
    • Atlassian (Jira, Confluence & Bitbucket)
    • Git
    • Google Workspace
    • Jenkins
    • Microsoft Office suite
  • Recognised IT certifications:
    • RHCSA / RHCE / CompTIA / LPIC-2 etc.
    • MCSE
    • AWS
