We’re now looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Technology team!

About the Role & Team

As a Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the Technology team. In this role, you will contribute to the overall health of the Compass platform as we expand our services internationally. The role will be a balance of operations and project work, with opportunities to get hands-on with a wide variety of technology.

What you'll do:

  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN).
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, hot fixes and security configurations.
  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
  • Monitor system resource utilisation, trending, and capacity planning.
  • Work with the team to plan/develop network architecture (WAN and LAN) using a variety of innovative technologies.
  • Provide Level 2 / 3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues.
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
  • Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team.
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution when required.
  • Provide on-call support on a rotating team roster for outage-level incidents and provide support for as-needed maintenance activities.
  • Ensure that the company policies and practices are in compliance with Compass’ InfoSec Policy.

Requirements

About You

You have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Administration of SAN technologies, such as Dell EqualLogic, Dell Compellent, HPE Nimble and Pure VMWare.
  • Administration of hypervisor technologies such as deployment and configuration of systems such as VMware vSphere, and Windows Hyper-V & Failover Clustering.
  • Windows and Linux Administration - such as Windows Server 2016 (and later), Ubuntu Server, and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) in a multi-site environment.
  • Network administration on Aruba, Arista at layers 2, 3, and 4, including IPSEC, RADIUS and OpenVPN in a multi-site environment.
  • Administration and deployment experience with Microsoft SQL server 2014+.
  • System monitoring tools such as Zabbix and Grafana.

Highly regarded, but not essential:

  • eBGP deployment and configuration.
  • Administration and deployment experience of Couchbase, Redis, MongoDB, RabbitMQ and HAProxy.
  • Citrix XenApp/Desktop experience.
  • Configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Public cloud experience with AWS and AzureAD
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
