Improves learning and assessment scenarios with simulation, to evolve both the teaching of medicine and how trainees and junior doctors develop their essential skills.Meksi
Meksi is a free problem based learning app for medical students to practice assessments based on health problems of the patients. The MEKSI program (Medical Knowledge Simulator) gives the opportunity to students in the medical field to develop their skills using simulation based learning. With creation of this project beginning in 2009, Thomas was awarded and innovation patent and research and development grant through the Australian Government Department of Industry, Innovation and Science. The program is currently in the process of commercialisation. MEKSI is a digital program that allows doctors and students to participate in consultations with simulated patients to create hypothetical scenarios for the students to work through in a safe environment. The patient will present an illness and the students are able to provide a diagnosis and treatment plan. This allows the student to use the knowledge they have been taught in the classroom in a practical way.
