Smart Prescriptions. An intuitive, easy, and affordable way to solve medication mismanagement.

ScalaMed is focused on fixing our $528 billion prescription-management problem. Call centers handle a majority of Rx management — an expensive, non-scalable, and non-focused solution to address real-time issues like adherence, interactions, and prescription side effects. “This system definitely does nothing to engage patients to take control of their meds adequately,” says ScalaMed CEO, Tal Rapke, MD. “30% of medications are abandoned and never picked up, and only 51% of patients adhere to chronic therapies after six months.” Ultimately, the burden of RX-upkeep falls on the prescribers, and patients are not empowered to harness their own prescription management. That is — until ScalaMed came into the picture. “In essence, we’ve reimagined the prescribing process by allowing doctors to send the prescriptions directly to their patients’ phones,” Dr. Rapke explains. “The patient then manages the fulfillment process with the help of our virtual care coordinator that sits with the App on the phone.” Finally, ScalaMed’s automated coordinator monitors — in real time — what the patient does with their prescriptions: “This then enables us to intervene when we notice patients are at risk. We can even triage and link patients back into care. We ultimately affect the meds-related outcomes of all patients in a scalable way.” ScalaMed is featured in numerous practices across Texas and is growing its presence across the country. This is, in large part, due to legislative changes and a growing demand for patient autonomy. “ScalaMed uniquely provides patients with their most frequent healthcare transactions on a useful and transactional App. We’ve created an entirely new access point and real estate to influence, cajole, prompt, and support the patient on their path to RX autonomy. And, with the advent of provider groups and payers in risk-based contracts desperate to shift the cost curve, we are in an exponentially-growing space with untapped potential.”
