We were disgusted, shocked, but not entirely surprised by the PRISM revelations in mid 2013. More importantly, having just emerged as math-happy programmers from our postgraduate Physics degrees, we realised that we were in a position to do something about it. So we picked ourselves up off the beach (it helped that it was winter here), applied for an incubator back at Sydney University, and set to work in a windowless bunker, Speakeasy HQ, with the mission of bringing privacy to the masses.
