Whooshkaa opened for business in 2016. Robert Loewenthal, former CEO of Australia’s Macquarie Radio Network built the platform to serve podcasters and audio creators with technology to manage their “on-demand” audio. Audio hosting and particularly podcasting technology was stuck somewhere in the early 2000’s. Existing offerings didn’t provide the cost effectiveness, scale and possibilities creators had come to expect from video technology. At the same time rapid improvements in technologies such as artificial intelligence were presenting opportunities that audio creators were missing out on. Whooshkaa was founded as a platform to give independent creators, publishers, broadcasters and brands a cost effective, end-to-end platform to host, distribute, monetise and track on-demand audio.
