At Barayamal, we believe that entrepreneurship and technology can change the world for the better. Today we are now known as a world leader and our growing number of partners are on a mission to help close the opportunity and disparity gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. We do this by running business accelerator programs and events, building technology solutions, podcast, school-based education and by investing time and funding Indigenous startups, which are the high-growth economic and employment solution. Help us create more jobs or build technology solutions that make a real difference in our communities by joining the movement now! Why? It all started when an aspiring entrepreneur said: “Why rely on the Government for help when we can do it ourselves!?” After running the world’s first Indigenous Startup Weekend and Business Accelerator Program in 2016, Dean Foley created an Indigenous charity called Barayamal which is now leading a national and worldwide movement. According to the latest government employment study, the Indigenous employment rate fell over the past decade, from 48% in 2006 to 46.6% in 2016. Over the same period, the non-indigenous employment rate was broadly stable, at around 72%. The Government has failed to close the disparity and opportunity gap over the last decade despite spending billions of taxpayer money… By empowering Indigenous people to achieve their self-determination aspirations, we can re-shape these statistics and our communities for the better. #CommunityOverProfit
