We’re hipages, Australia’s #1 digital platform connecting homeowners with trusted tradies. As an ASX-listed tech company, we're on a mission to transform the trade industry and improve lives.

With teams across Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines and Vietnam, we work as one team with a shared purpose.

We’re proud to be a certified Great Place to Work and WORK180’s #1 Employer for Women. At hipages, you’ll find real impact, career growth and a workplace where everyone belongs.

About the role:

This is a 9-month fixed-term contract providing high-impact design capacity across two dynamic, cross-functional squads: Connections and Pricing & Packaging. It’s the perfect fit for a Senior Designer who thrives on variety, loves working across different facets of a product, and excels at managing multiple priorities.

The role is structured in two distinct phases:

  • Phase 1 (Onboarding & Collaboration): You’ll initially work alongside an experienced Leading Designer across both squads to quickly get up to speed with our products, customers, and ways of working.

  • Phase 2 (Sole Ownership): From around September, you'll step up to take sole design ownership across both squads, making proactive communication and deliberate prioritization key to your success.

As a vital part of each squad’s product triad, you will partner closely with Product Managers and Engineers to discover, shape, and deliver experiences our customers love. While you'll own your space, you won't be on your own. You'll be backed by a deeply collaborative, inclusive design community, regular design huddles, and direct support from the Head of Product Design.

Why join our Product team?

  • 💻 Hybrid working model
  • 🪴 In-house Talent Development team to prioritise personal and career growth
  • 💸 Competitive salary, benefits and perks
  • 🤸 Cross-functional collaboration
  • 📖Hands-on learning opportunities and workshops for continuous upskilling

How you will add value:

  • End-to-End Design Ownership: Lead experience design across both squads from early product discovery through to high-fidelity, implementable designs and post-release iteration.
  • Continuous Discovery & Insights: Run interviews, usability testing, and concept tests to uncover actionable insights. You'll leverage modern workflows—using AI tools like NotebookLM—to synthesize findings deeper and faster.
  • Triad Partnership: Partner closely within each squad's product triad (Product Managers and Engineers) to shape, prioritize, and align on what gets delivered.
  • AI-Powered Exploration: Use AI tools to explore alternative design concepts, generate inspiration, and pressure-test your thinking as part of our commitment to modern design fluency.
  • Data & Experimentation: Plan and design product experiments to test hypotheses, using analytics (like Mixpanel) to validate performance and ensure new features are properly instrumented.
  • Customer Advocacy: Build a deep understanding of our tradie and household customer journeys to act as a genuine advocate for their needs during prioritization discussions.
  • Cross-Squad Balance: Stay highly organized across both squads—managing your time, communication, and stakeholder expectations to balance customer experience with speed and execution.

About you:

  • 4+ years of commercial experience in product or UX design for web and mobile.
  • A track record of being the go-to designer on a squad — you're comfortable owning the design work end to end, getting up to speed quickly, and making progress with limited direction. This role moves into a sole-designer phase, so the ability to hit the ground running really matters.
  • Experience across the full design cycle, from research and discovery through to implementable designs and post-release iteration.
  • You've worked in cross-functional teams or triads alongside Product Managers and Engineers, sharing insights and building alignment.
  • You've taken complex flows and business logic and made them feel simple and intuitive.
  • You're organised and calm when juggling more than one stream of work at a time.
  • A real interest in using AI tools to work smarter across research, design and concept exploration.

Technical experience:

  • Planning and facilitating user research — usability testing, interviews, surveys and contextual inquiries — and synthesising the findings into insights.
  • Proficient with Figma and other prototyping tools.
  • A good understanding of iOS, Android and web UI patterns, since these squads work across both our apps (built in React Native) and web.
  • Comfortable using analytics tools like Mixpanel to inform and validate your work.
  • Experience with two-sided marketplaces or SaaS products is an advantage.

We prioritise Diversity:

At hipages, innovation and collaboration thrive in diverse and inclusive teams. We don’t expect you to know everything - we care more about who you are as a person, a team member, and a leader.

We’re proud to be endorsed by WORK180 for supporting women’s careers and we value diversity across culture, age, gender identity and sexual orientation.

Research shows that men often apply when they meet just 60% of the criteria, while women and minority groups wait until they tick every box. If you think you’d be a great fit - even if you don’t meet every requirement- we’d love to hear from you.

We’re also a Circle Back Initiative Employer, which means we commit to responding to every applicant.
