The Role
Reporting to the Privacy & Regulatory Affairs Manager, this role is pivotal in ensuring Megaport's global compliance with telecommunications, data privacy, and cybersecurity laws. As a key member of the Governance, Risk, and Compliance team, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain a robust compliance framework. Your work will enable Megaport to operate confidently within regulatory boundaries while achieving its strategic business objectives.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Monitor global telecommunications regulations, laws and best practices, and advise management on updates
  • Manage telecommunications licensing processes, ensuring the timely preparation, renewal, and maintenance of licenses across various regions
  • Prepare and submit reports to telecommunications authorities (e.g., revenue, technical and incident reporting)
  • Support market entry by analysing, communicating and operationalising regulatory requirements in new jurisdictions
  • Provide regulatory guidance throughout the development of new services and products, ensuring compliance relevant with telecommunications laws
  • Manage and track requests from regulators and law enforcement authorities, ensuring secure, timely and compliant responses.
  • Maintain compliance with cybersecurity and critical infrastructure frameworks, including registration obligations (e.g., NIS2, SOCI).
  • Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to internal teams on telecommunications licensing issues.
  • Provide administrative support to the Privacy & Regulatory Affairs Manager
  • What we are looking for

  • Proven experience in regulatory compliance, legal, risk management or similar roles; industry-specific experience (e.g. telecom, technology) is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, including key laws, regulations, and industry standards relevant to telecommunications, data privacy, and cybersecurity (e.g. GDPR, NIS2, ISO 27001, and telecom-specific regulations)
  • Compliance Certifications an asset (e.g. CIPP)
  • Sufficient knowledge of project and data management systems is an asset (e.g. Jira, OneTrust).
  • Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the business
  • Advanced analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them to business practices
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, including with legal, security, engineering, and commercial teams
  • The ability to manage time well, prioritise effectively and handle multiple deadlines under pressure
