The Role: Crafting an Impactful User Experience

We're looking for a technically strong and conscientious Android Engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining high-quality native Android applications that are performant, scalable, and easy to maintain. You'll work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to create innovative mobile solutions that directly enhance the user experience and help people when they need it most.

This role is for you if you're a problem-solver who thrives in ambiguity, takes full ownership of your projects, and is eager to learn and adapt. You'll need to be adaptable and flexible, comfortable with shifting priorities and rapid iteration as we continue our fast-paced growth.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Application Development: Design, implement, test, and maintain robust Android applications using an iterative development process.
  • Collaboration & Mentoring: Work effectively with product and design teams to refine features , and participate in code and design reviews to ensure high software quality. You’ll also get to mentor junior engineers on the team.
  • Integration & Optimisation: Integrate APIs and third-party services like Firebase, and collaborate with backend teams on API development. You'll also diagnose and resolve technical issues to optimise app performance.

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience developing native Android applications with Kotlin.
  • Expertise in the Android SDK, Jetpack libraries, and Material Design principles.
  • Proven experience with asynchronous programming using Coroutines and Flow, and MVVM or Clean Architecture principles.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, networking libraries like Retrofit, and Firebase services.
  • Proficiency in unit and UI testing frameworks like JUnit and Espresso.
  • A portfolio of Android apps you have developed and successfully published on the Google Play Store.
  • Strong version control skills with Git, including branching and merging strategies.
  • You must have the right to work full-time in Australia.
  • Experience contributing to or collaborating closely with backend services.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with emerging technologies, particularly in the realm of Artificial Intelligence.
