Tax and Treasury Accountant

The Finance Team consists of Corporate Finance (Financial Control and Reporting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Tax and Treasury) Financial Planning & Analysis, and Risk.  As trusted Business Partners, we support all the divisions across THE ICONIC to execute the business strategy, drive growth and shareholder value, as well as minimise risk.

The role of Tax and Treasury Accountant is based within our Corporate Finance team and is responsible to provide direct support to the Tax and Treasury Manager, financial reporting team, payroll team, as well as the wider THE ICONIC finance division and GFG Group Treasury and Tax.

About the role

Reporting to the Tax and Treasury Manager, the Tax and Treasury Accountant is responsible for preparing key regulatory and compliance information, daily cash flow management including bank reconciliations, month end close activities and monthly, quarterly, and annual taxation lodgements.  

 Treasury duties:

  • Perform cash management responsibilities including bank reconciliations, maintenance of the cash balances registers and I am responsible for assisting with the design and implementation of the organisation's Treasury system and procedures. 
  • Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts to enable management to monitor and optimise operating, investing, and financing cash flows.
  • Maintain records by preparing changes to treasury master data and authorisation matrices to uphold THE ICONIC’s treasury control environment and ensure integrity.
  • Reconcile bank charges monthly and prepare end of month (EOM) and end of year (EOY) reporting including commentary and analysis, balance sheet and P&L reconciliations. 
  • Authorise and assure the journal postings for payroll including earnings, taxes, deductions, annual and long service leave, superannuation, bonuses, and relevant accruals.
  • Responsible for compiling crucial treasury information for the External Auditors. 
  • Support the business by providing advice on Treasury related queries and requests, including support to our shareholder Global Fashion Group.

Taxation duties:

  • Perform periodic and annual taxation preparation or lodgement activities to enable THE ICONIC to meet regulatory obligations, this includes but is not limited to:
  • Preparation and reconciliation of the Business Activity Statement for review and lodgement with ATO
  • Preparation and lodgement of the monthly and annual payroll tax returns 
  • Assist with the preparation of Fringe Benefits Tax return
  • Assist with the preparation of the company tax return and liaise with external advisers, as well as maintaining the tax fixed asset register 
  • Liaise with regulators such as the ATO, Office of State Revenue, and financial institutions as required
  • Comply with Australian legislative and regulatory obligations, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions.
  • Prepare THE ICONIC’s payment times reporting and lodgement and raise any purchase orders for treasury and taxation purposes. 

What Success Looks like…

  • Qualified professional in the field of accounting or taxation
  • Experience as a treasury or taxation accountant in a fast-paced organisation.
  • Sound understanding of legislative requirements such as PAYG, FBT, Payroll Tax and corporate taxation. 
  • Attention to detail and ensure accuracy while reviewing complex calculations and lodgements
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience in cash forecasting.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and have a continuous improvement mindset.
