How you can help make a better world of work

We’re seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join our SRE Foundations team whose mission is to: “establish and maintain infrastructure patterns that provide product engineering a straightforward and reliable foundation.” You will be working with a cross-functional, distributed team that has a mandate to improve Culture Amp’s software delivery and has a strongly supportive internal culture.

As part of this team of amazing humans:

You will:

  • Work closely with other engineers to build, maintain and enhance our services following industry best practices.
  • Work with product teams and end users of SRE tooling to understand their needs, requirements and problems, then work to develop, refine, slice, implement and measure the impact of the solution.
  • Collaborate with other engineers in the team through pair programming, writing solution designs, or giving feedback on pull requests, to build a shared understanding of the work.
  • Participate in technical conversations, provide technical suggestions and be willing to own decisions.
  • Work with our security team to ensure the environment meets modern security standards (SOC2, ISO27001)

You have:

  • A command of at least one backend programming language, and be comfortable learning TypeScript (as we use CDK and CDKTF heavily) and Golang (many SRE tools are written in it). Our developer teams also work in Ruby, Kotlin and Python, so being able to understand and debug those languages is a plus.
  • Experience with or knowledge of distributed systems and event-driven architecture (e.g. Kafka) is a big plus.
  • Familiarity with operational practices and systems (e.g. Observability, Security, CI/CD, Configuration management, etc.)
  • Cloud experience in AWS. GCP knowledge is a plus as we use it for some AI workloads.
  • A passion for automation and eliminating toil.
  • A drive to learn and hone your engineering craft.

You are:

  • Able to participate in a paid weekly on-call rotation approximately once every 6 weeks.
  • Able to show your hands-on technical skills and effectively pair with other engineers in the team.
  • An effective communicator both within your team and with external stakeholders.
  • Commercially minded and pragmatic in your approach, balancing business needs with architectural constraints.
  • Aligned with our values and be able to demonstrate them through your working practice.
