About Relectrify

At Relectrify, we are engineering the future of battery energy storage.  We are on a mission to reduce the cost of renewable energy for everyone by building battery energy storage systems (BESS) from the cell up to make every kWh count.

Our patented CellSwitch® platform can independently optimise the usage of every battery cell, delivering more energy each time a BESS is cycled while significantly extending BESS lifetime relative to conventional battery systems.

Our new AC1 BESS does things no other BESS can do, such as generating grid-compliant AC power directly from the battery cells without the need for a separate inverter.  By neutralising fundamental weaknesses in today’s conventional BESS architecture, the AC1 delivers enhanced safety, reliability and investment returns for BESS owners.

Backed by global investors, we are headquartered in Melbourne.  With the launch of the AC1 BESS, we have big plans for the Australian market, and we are building the team to make them happen.

Across the organisation, we embrace diverse experiences to fuel our collective success, ensuring everyone can do their best work.  Our core values fuel and motivate us:

  • Prioritise what matters most.  We only work with a small, clear set of objectives in mind.
  • Think critically.  We base our decisions on informed, open-minded evaluations.
  • Be decisive.  We prioritise action and continuously move forward, adapting as we go.
  • Quality and elegance in everything.  We always put in the effort necessary to distil complexity into the simplest forms possible.
  • Collaborate or fail.  We recognise that partnerships are essential to our success.
  • Get jobs done.  We aren’t content until we’ve achieved the target outcome.

If you want to challenge yourself while advancing the renewable energy transition, come join us.

About the Role

Team background

Working closely with internal teams and external partners, the Mechanical team develops a variety of solutions in accordance with our technology roadmap to help us achieve Relectrify’s mission of engineering the future of battery energy storage.

Who we need

This exciting new role presents a unique opportunity for a skilled and motivated mid-career Mechanical Engineer to join Relectrify.  You will play a crucial role in developing cutting-edge mechanical solutions and subsystems for our next-generation battery technology.

We are seeking an individual with significant experience in product design, ideally in electronics product design, prototyping, and manufacturing.

You will be comfortable leading projects and taking ownership of the required deliverables.  You will deliver outcomes that are robust, mature and highly manufacturable.  Being part of our collaborative team, you will relish the opportunity to impart your knowledge and experience to help the broader Engineering team improve processes and practices.

In this role, you will not only contribute to the improvement of mechanical workflow processes but will also have the chance to co-author invention reports and help design the future of our technologies.

What you’ll be doing

  • Designing and releasing mechanical parts and assemblies, including product-related parts, assembly fixtures and tooling.
  • Performing engineering calculations or other technical analysis, including simulations to generate relevant documentation.
  • Participating in prototype development and builds.
  • Conducting or participating in design reviews to collaboratively resolve technical issues.
  • Providing support for legacy products, including maintenance and problem-solving.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of mechanical skills, processes, facilities, and capabilities at Relectrify.
  • Contributing to Relectrify’s intellectual property portfolio.
  • Providing support for product requirements.

Requirements

Must-have experience

    • Bachelor/Masters/PhD in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
    • 5+ years in mechanical design integrating electronics.
    • Skilled in 3D CAD and 2D drafting.
    • DFM experience in sheet metal and plastics.

Nice-to-have experience:

    • Experience in FMEA and JSA.
    • Design for assembly, DFA.
    • Experience propagating technical knowledge via mentoring.
