About the Role

Location: Due to the nature of this position, you will be based primarily on-site at our Melbourne office, which is only a short walk from Southern Cross Station. However, Relectrify proudly has a flexible culture and supports adjusted working hours and work-from-home days in agreement with your manager.

Team Background: Working closely with internal teams, the Hardware team develops power electronics systems per our technology roadmap to help us achieve our company mission of engineering the future of battery energy storage.

Who we’re looking for: We are seeking an Electrical Engineer who has significant experience in battery management systems (BMS), planning and management of innovative power electronics projects, and production.

The successful candidate will progress to contribute to innovation projects, be responsible for driving product quality improvements, and test and validate design concepts. You will mentor others and continually improve the capabilities and skills of the broader engineering team.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Developing BMS (Battery Management Systems), including utilising second-life batteries.
  • Designing power converters using mathematical analysis, modelling and simulation (Matlab/Simulink, Mathcad, LTspice).
  • Providing specialised engineering support in power electronics for battery management.
  • Providing support for product requirements.
  • Designing printed circuit boards using Altium Designer.
  • Maintaining suitable documentation of conducted work.
  • Ad-hoc engineering tasks and activities as required.

Requirements

Applicants must have full working rights in Australia and be willing to undergo pre-employment background checks (i.e. working rights, criminal history, and employment references). 

Must-have experience: 

  • Bachelor/Masters/PhD in electrical/electronic engineering.
  • Experience in battery management systems (BMS).
  • Planning and managing innovative power electronics projects.
  • Design verification, including production validation.
  • Proficiency in analog and digital circuit designs.
  • Communication protocols (SPI, I2C, RS485, Ethernet POE,etc)
  • EMI/EMC understanding and product experience.
  • Production support experience.
  • UL/CE Compliance (EMC, Safety, RED, RoHS, REACH).
  • DFM (Design for Manufacture).
  • Analytical thinking for circuit debugging.

Nice-to-have experience:

  • Experience propagating technical knowledge via mentoring.
  • Experience leading a team or project teams.
  • Familiarity with V-model development.
  • Functional safety knowledge (60730 Class B or equivalent).
