About the role

As a Data Analytics Lead at Sonder, you'll split your time between hands-on data analysis and leading a team of 1-2 analysts. You'll transform complex data into actionable insights and collaborate with stakeholders across various business areas—including customer success, product, and marketing—to define and address key challenges.

In partnership with the Head of Insights & Analytics, you’ll help refine our data transformation strategy, converting it into actionable projects for your team. You’ll also provide regular coaching and mentorship to uplift our analytics capabilities. This role is a unique opportunity to shape our insights data layer, drive our analytics roadmap, and contribute to our vision of becoming global experts in wellbeing insights.

What you’ll be doing

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand and define key problems.
  • Scope analytics projects and outline the benefits for each initiative.
  • Define and implement business logic in the data warehouse, working with data engineers.
  • Choose the best analytics methods and formats (e.g., insights, reports, dashboards) for each project.
  • Identify patterns and trends in data, applying statistical methods to generate actionable recommendations.
  • Report findings to business members through formal presentations or informal updates.
  • Develop reusable analytics solutions and think strategically about future needs.
  • Coach and support other analysts, providing guidance on priorities and business context.
  • Enhance our analytics capabilities by upskilling team members and introducing innovative techniques.
  • Organise and analyse data to address specific questions and needs.
  • Explore and clean data, identifying relevant sources and ensuring data quality.

Who are we looking for?

What you bring to the team;

  • Bachelor degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Economics/Actuarial Studies
  • 5+ Years of experience as a data or insights analyst
  • 5+ Years of experience in databases (Oracle/Snowflake/SQLServer etc), both designing and creating data models, and querying existing datasets. Experience with dbt is an advantage
  • 3+ Years of experience working with visualisation tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc)
  • 2+ Years of experience leading people or 1+ years of experience coaching other analysts
  • Strong technical skills (e.g. SQL, Python, R)
  • Proven ability to derive, communicate, and act on actionable insights from data using various methodologies.
  • Skilled in exploring and synthesising large datasets, and breaking down complex problems into manageable tasks.
  • Proficient in converting data into recommendations, preparing detailed reports, and adhering to data best practices.
  • Experienced in coaching analysts, guiding them to independent problem-solving, and fostering a strong analytical mindset.
  • Natural curiosity and eagerness to understand business, member needs, and stakeholder challenges.
