About the opportunity

Engineering teams at Littlepay have end-to-end ownership of the work they deliver. We’re now looking for a Tech Lead to help build our highly skilled team. As a Tech Lead in the Partner team, you’ll take ownership of the systems that connect our partners to our payment infrastructure through their devices and back-office services, including collecting and storing cardholders’ information. You'll also provide technical leadership to a team of engineers and develop and deliver a technical roadmap in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders.

Day to day, you’ll:

  • Design, implement and maintain dependable platforms, production-quality APIs, workflows, and tools
  • Provide technical leadership for a team of 5 engineers
  • Mentor junior engineers
  • Collaborate closely with Service Operations, Platform and Engineering Management to plan your initiatives
  • Build performant, sustainable, and maintainable technologies and code

About our platform tech:

  • Java/Spring/NodeJS microservices
  • Go as the future for new microservices
  • Open source and AWS technologies (ECS/RDS/DynamoDB/S3/SQS/APIGateway/Lambda/SAM/CF)

About you

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • 3+ years of technical leadership experience
  • 7+ years of relevant professional experience in Java software development
  • Solid Java/Spring skills with recent commercial experience in Go across the stack
  • An interest or experience in cryptographic algorithms and transaction security
  • Experience with developing software in a cloud-hosted environment (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • The willingness to learn, fail, and try again - people who are naturally curious, proactive, and self-motivated do very well at Littlepay
  • A positive attitude and a collaborative nature, with the willingness to participate in all areas of engineering
  • The ability to comprehend, coordinate, and communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues
  • Good knowledge of CI/CD practices

Nice to haves

  • Previous experience shipping and supporting products at a global scale
  • Experience with data governance
  • Experience with Site Reliability Engineering
  • Experience with giving technical presentations to internal and external audiences
